NOTICE: The XP SP1 appliance is not secure!! It is vulnerable to the WannaCry ransonware worm so do not use or run for a long time!!! 1) Download the appropriate VirtualBox-6.1.38... - download and install the VirtualBox platform package appropriate to the computer you are using. There are Ubuntu DEB pacakgess for both focal (20.04) and jammy (22.04) included. Ubuntu users can also just run: apt install virtualbox virtualbox-ext-pack - download the VirtualBox Oracle VM VirtualBox Extension Pack, and open it to add it to your VirtualBox installation Make sure to download and install both applications. NOTE: If you are using an older Mac and the newer VirtualBox 6.1.38 version does not work, look in VB2020 for the version from 2020 (version 6.0.24) 2) Download EEG.ova from the class web page software section. 3) Find EEG.ova in your local file manager and double click it. Click on "Import" within the Import Virtual Appliance window. 4) To get the WIN XP device to see local filesystems: - Under "Devices" select "Install Guest Additions" - In XP open up the CD drive and run the Guest Additions extension for x86 - make a directory called EEG (somewhere where you remember where you put it) - in virtual box manager -> settings -> Shared Folders" "add" a shared folder - in windows window use "tools" then "map network drive" to link the folder you created on your machine with a device on the windows virtual machine. Browse for \\vboxsvr and you should see your shared folder there. If you cannot share a folder due to errors: While the Virtual Machine is shut down go to Settings-->System-->Acceleration And turn off any hardware virtualization if your system does not support it.
