one mile north of the Ranken school house in the larva stage.

PEOPLE
Feb. 31 Alfred F. Satterthwait elected President of the American Nature-
Study Society, of which the Web. Gr. Nat. Study Society is a 
branch, at the Society's annual convention in Cleveland, Ohio last
December.  Mr. Satterthwait has served at different times in the
Webster Groves Banch as Director, President, Secretary, and 
Chairman of its Entomology Group.  He organized the Insect
Collection Contests for boys and girls, of which he is chairman.
Recently he was made Chairman of the St. Louis Academy of 
Science.
May. 31 Our Geology Group Chairman, Miss Alice Marty, has changed her
name to Mrs. Arthur Feager
Jun. 31 Dr. Edgar Anderson, geneticist at the Missouri Botanical Garden
since 1922 and an Asst. Professor at Washington University, 
St. Louis, Mo., has been appointed arborist at the Arnold Arboretum
at Harvard University.
Jun. 31 On May 6, 1931, the Rau's had a farewell luncheon for the Holly
and Anderson families.   Sixty-four guests were present.

Jan. 31 New "Lodge" Officers:  At last meeting of the Nature Study Lodge
Unit the following new officers were elected:

  Secretary - Charles Stones
  Treasurer - William Pickens
  The above three will compose the Executive Committee and be
  responsibvle for Lodge management.
Jun. 31 A Word from the Lodge:  All members are weldome to visit/
use the Lodge even though they may not belong to the Lodge.
Jul. 31 The Lodge Unit Visitors to the Lodge are asked to sign the guest register; 
photographers who take pictures while visiting the Lodge are asked
to provide a print of the more interesting ones for the Lodge
scrapbook.

present "A Visit to the Scilly Islands".
Feb. 31 WGNSS General Meeting, 8 PM, Feb. 6, at the U. S. Entomolo-
gical Laboratory.  Meeting to consist of reports by attendees of the
A.A.A.S in Cleveland:  Dorothy A. Boyer, Dr. Edgar Anderson, 
Elizabeth Allen Satterthwait, Julian Steyermark, and A. F. 
Satterthwait.
Mar. 31 On Sunday Morning, March 1 at 9 AM Henry N. Kennon, in charge
of the Bird Houses in the St. Louis Zoo will conduct our members
through the Tropical Bird Houses before the crowds arrive.
Mar. 31 Joint Meeting of WGNSS and Academy of Science of St. Louis

North Union Avenue, St. Louis.  Dr. Margaret Fuller Boos, Nature
Guide in the Rocky Mountain National Park will speak on "Wild
Lives in Wild Places"
Apr. 31 Annual Meeting and Election of Officers, 8 PM, Friday, April 3, at
the Entomological Laboratory.  There will be election of officers for
the coming year.  Reports by officers/group chairmen will be 
heard, as well as plans for the coming year.
May. 31 WGNSS General Meeting, 8 PM, Monday, May 11, in Assembly
Hall, Webster Groves High School.  Capt. A. J.Lorimier will speak
on "Reptile Life of Indo-China and Phillipines".
Jun. 31 WGNSS General Meeting, 8 PM, Friday, June 5, at the
Entomological Laboratory.  Mr. L. P.Jensen will speak on 
"Conservation of our Native Plants".
Sep. 31 WGNSS General Meeting, Friday, Sept. 4, at the Entomological
Laboratory.  Mr. K. L. Baker, in charge of tree trimming along state
highways, will talk on correct tree trimmingl
Oct. 31 WGNSS General Meeting, Friday, Oct. 2, at the Rau residence,
549 E. Argonne Drive, Kirkwood.  Miss Nellie Matlock will talk 
about "Summer Vacationing at a Naturalists'  Camp".
Nov. 31 WGNSS General Meeting, 8 PM, Friday, Nov. 6, at the
U. S. Entomological Laboratory.  Prizes will be awarded to winners
of the insect collection contest, and winners will make 5 minute 
speeches.  Dr. William Devriant will follow with a talk on
"Mandragora, a Sleeping Draught from Ancient Times".
