Spores of Nocardiopsis Alba

 

An experiment was conducted using spores of Nocardiopsis Alba, an actinomycete isolated from Tufa Towers in Mono Lake.

Raman spectra obtained from these spores:

Raman spectrum of beta-carotene obtained from the spores, notice high fluorescent background. Raman spectrum of protein shows up after bleaching out of fluorescent background.

Survey is THE way to find biogenetic species on Mars -- Raman point-counting:

Results of a 51 points-counting scan across a Quartz-spores 15:1 solid mixture show 2 spectra with the  Raman peaks of spores of Nocardiopsis Alba.
