Introduction to Structural Geology

Stress and strain, elementary rock mechanics and fracture theory, faulting, plastic deformation, mechanics of folding, strain analysis, application to thrust belts, multiple folded terrains, and sedimentary basins. Laboratories in map interpretation, fault problems, stereo nets, and subsurface geology.

  Math 131 and 132

  Three hours of lecture and one two-hour laboratory a week
