Information for Prospective Graduate Students

The Department of Earth & Planetary Sciences is one of the few departments in the country with an integrated program of instruction and research that treats Earth as a planet and makes direct use of knowledge gained by exploring the solar system. As a graduate student you will have the opportunity to explore any of the many areas covered within the Department such as geology, geochemistry, geophysics, geobiology, and planetary sciences. You will participate in research that involves laboratory measurements, data analysis, theoretical approaches, or fieldwork at various locations around the world. The Department offers graduate programs leading to master’s and doctoral degrees. We encourage students with undergraduate backgrounds in earth sciences, chemistry, physics, mathematics, and engineering to apply.
